Traditional Chinese Medicine

Chinese Face Mapping

According to traditional Chinese medicine, the face is the map of the soul, a mirror to the outside world that projects our inner self. Your body is interconnected, like all living things. What affects your physical self is a series of meridians. Energy flows to and from the organs in the body along these pathways in a bio-electrical and vibrational way.

Chinese Herbal Medicine

16th St Acupuncture has recently added beauty treatments that incorporate facial cupping with acupuncture to stimulate collagen and blood flow to the face. Facial cupping reduces fine lines and wrinkles and give the face a lift and glow.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping is commonly used for such pain related conditions as back and shoulder pain, however it can be used on other parts of the body, such as the arm, for certain types of tendonitis. Cupping relieves blood stagnation in the muscle layer, allowing increased blood flow to nourish the affected area.

Gua Sha Facial Rejuvenation

Gua (to scrape) Sha (stagnated blood) has been around for thousands of years. In Chinese villages, people would use a coin to scrape the backs of children or anyone who was developing a cold or chest congestion to release the pathogen.

Massage

At 16th St Acupuncture we offer many types of massage. We do traditional Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, Sports massage, Traditional Thai Massage and CBD infused massage.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is the process of burning the dried herb mugwort on an acupuncture point. ‘Moxa’ for short, is used to nourish the body and support the immune system. It is used for specific patterns of disharmony for both physical and emotional support.
