Services For Athletes

Here at 16th Street Acupuncture, treating athletes, dancers, weekend warriors, and marathoners is one of our passions. We were trained at Tri-State College of Acupuncture where we heavily studied APM – Acupuncture Physical Medicine. We use a combination of trigger point therapy, Electro-acupuncture, cupping, gua sha and massage to treat a wide variety of ailments. If you are experiencing any of the following, acupuncture may be a good option for you. To see results we usually recommend 3-5 treatments, one per week.

Acupuncture Physical Medicine

Back Pain

Studies have shown that acupuncture is effective specifically for acute and chronic back pain. In most cases, it is a relatively straightforward condition to diagnose and treat with acupuncture and Chinese Medicine.

Broken Bones

Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine can help with the healing of broken bones, especially in cases where the bone is taking longer than expected to heal.

Hip Pain

Hip issues include arthritis, piriformis syndrome, sciatica, gluteal tightness & pain, and strained groin muscles. Acupuncture can also help manage pain prior hip surgery.

Knee Pain

Acupuncture is an effective treatment for pain and physical dysfunction associated with osteoarthritis in the knee. Acupuncture also effectively treats runners knee, patella tendonitis, bursitis, and mild non-surgical collateral ligament injuries.

Research shows acupuncture to be highly effective in treating low back pain. We are able to treat sciatica and piriformis syndrome with the aid of trigger point therapy and E-stim.

At 16th St Acupuncture we offer many types of massage. We do traditional Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, Sports massage, Traditional Thai Massage and CBD infused massage.

Acupuncture treats neck and shoulder ailments: tension due to long hours sitting in front of a computer (aka ‘Tech Neck), stress holding patterns, poor posture, post operative pain, whiplash, frozen shoulder, or traumatic injury.

Pain Management

Pain of all types can be addressed with acupuncture. Studies have shown that when acupuncture is administered, parts of the brain associated with pain management are ‘lit up,’ showing the positive effects of acupuncture on certain pain receptors.

Tendonitis

Acupuncture can be beneficial for any type of tendonitis in the body. The pain associated with tennis elbow and golfers elbow can be greatly reduced with an acupuncture protocol.
